Re: Panasonic A500 - Action camera
Wow, I don't know how I missed this one at NAB! Thanks for the vid Paulo.
I have to say though (I hope you're reading this Panasonic), the first one, the A100, is/was garbage. Despite the useful addition of the screen on the main unit (awesome!) doesn't actually look any better. More of the same, with more resolution, is not attractive. And really, for $400, compared to the Hero3 or Sony, I'll easily take those instead. Also, Panasonic... the cable is too short to be useful for much other than mounting on your head. Give me a removable cable so I can swap between 3', 6' or 10' cables and all of a sudden the applications for this explode.

Yes clearly Panasonic do not understand action cameras and the market.

Re: Panasonic A500 - Action camera
I used my A100 again last weekend... This thing could have been so good if done properly. I still love the tethered form factor...

Road test video at 4K:
The 4K original is downloadable. The included software (HDWriter) enables editing and merging without re-compression, and that was used. |

Re: Panasonic A500 - Action camera
I'm so tempted to try one of these, but just can't get over the $400 price tag with the Hero 4 looming close.
Despite hating so much about my A100, it's still my favorite wearable POV camera.

Re: Panasonic A500 - Action camera
Beaches are actually pretty boring (that's the point) - people sit mostly and enjoy the sun and the view. The ultra wide-angle is perfect for this setting:
