Was any grading done to the above videos? The images do look nice either way.

At what settings was below video shot? And are all images from the gopro 3? Looking pretty good considering the size of the camera.

Re: Gopro 3 Black First Tests

Is it just me, or is anyone else having trouble playing these? I'm running Firefox, and every time I click on either of those, it crashes and quits. The dog video plays just fine.....

Also, picked up my first GP3 Black the other day. So far so good with respect to freezes, but one time it wouldn't turn on, and I had to take the battery out and put it back to get it to turn on. No problems with the Wifi pairing, that's working like a charm. One thing I was told by a guy at the store where I bought it, is that what media is used is critical to the reliable operation. His daughter shoots stuff for GoPro, and has had early versions of the GP3 before release, and it seemed that the only flash cards which worked reliably were the Sandisk Exteme Pro or Ultra. They tried other cards and experienced a lot of the issues others have been complaining about, so there's maybe something to that. I bought the Sandisk Ultra card, and other than that one glitch turning the camera on, so problems. (crossing fingers!) I plan on picking up another Black when they are in stock. The 240fps video of the dog jumping is pretty amazing considering how tiny this camera is. If you exclude the battery (which takes up more space than the whole camera) this thing is not much bigger than about $1.50 worth of quarters in a stack.

Resolution seems to drop quite a lot when in that mode, what is the resolution it shoots when doing 240fps?

I did do a little grading. I only used a go pro for these clips. If you are having trouble playing the videos download the latest flash plugin for your browser. I was having the same issues. it seems vimeo requires latest flash for these higher res images.

here is another time-lapse from today.

848x480 for 240fps

1280x720 can do 120fps

Sure a go pro 3 was used? Looks more like a high end pro camcorder to me.

Michael Ferrara - what were the settings used on the time lapse? 12MP or 7? 1 frame every Xseconds?
Did it freeze or did you end it yourself?

LOL Think I'm lying. This is the camera and what it is capable with my skill. I could probably get it to look even better but I am not the greatest with encoding and such. My weakness is the technical knowledge of codecs, compression and such.

The amazing thing about the go pro was I didn't have to do anything. I set it to camera raw on the white balance and 2.7k with pro tune and hooked it up to my various mounts. You should see the uncompressed footage. it is insanely crisp.

I used 2.7k 15fps then sped it up like 300% or something like that. The second, the thanksgiving one, I shot 12mp photos 1 every 15 seconds and the second part 12mp photos every 3 or 5 seconds, can't remember. It never froze up. I hear the freezing was an issue with a certain batch of cameras. The battery does die in a couple of hours so I'd recommend the battery backpack for time-lapse. I might pick one up soon. If you have the lcd backpack on, forget about it. it will die fast. If anything, set up your shot with the lcd then take it off.

Again, this footage is all go pro, not other cameras were used. I've been shooting video for 20 years. I'm the passenger in the video. I wouldn't put up BS. I'll take the accusation of using other cameras as a compliment to me and to gopro. :)

Um, Michael, think you jumped the gun on that one, pretty certain that was a compliment and not an accusation at all.
