Hero 2 LCD on Hero 3
I just tried the Hero2 LCD back on the Hero3 and it works fine. So if you are dumping your Hero2 stuff you should hold on to those LCDs.

Re: Hero 2 LCD on Hero 3
From what i've read on the GoPro website, all of the accessories from the Hero 2 will work with the Hero 3.
Question is, how did you get your hands on a Hero 3?? Do tell Kevin, how is it?

Re: Hero 2 LCD on Hero 3
I really haven't had much time to play with the camera, but here are some initial random thoughts.
The fist thing that hit me was how tiny this thing is. It's mostly lens and battery. The lower distortion lens is a big improvement. Slight bowing, but nothing compared the the Hero2. The camera is much better in low light. Less noise, better color and contrast. The remote works as advertised. The latch on the underwater housing has a safety. The audio is improved. It's still terrible, but its much better than the tinny buzzy Hero 2 audio. In good light, the picture quality is similar to the Hero 2 but with less distortion. The wifi app does not work with my camera. No live preview and hit or miss with connecting to the camera.I contacted GoPro about this. No instruction book included in the box and no lens cap for the camera or housing. Everyone is going to lose the little dust cover for the ports. They should have attached it to the camera. Overall I like the camera. I'll probably hold on to my Hero 2s as well. I can't say where I got the camera because they are not a DVi sponsor, but I just walked in and bought it off the shelf. Kevin, which version of the 3? The White or Silver version?

The Black was in a store already? I thought GoPro wasn't even releasing that version until mid-Nov?

Re: Hero 2 LCD on Hero 3
Yes, I was really surprised to see them so I bought the 3 that they had.
I'm going to try to sell the 2 that I haven't opened yet for a little profit but if they don't sell no big deal. I'm sure I'll end up with at least 3 of them! (see the private classifieds if you are interested) I really like this camera so far!! Another thing I am noticing is that the menu system is a lot more responsive. Maybe due to the new processor. I am very tempted to open a second one up to see if it works with my Hero2 3d kit. |

Re: Hero 2 LCD on Hero 3
Not yet. I charged the things all night and finally the light went out about 5:AM.
I took a few minutes of video then went to bed. I'll try it a little later today. |

From the GoPro website:
"NOTE: A software update for your HERO3 camera is required before using the GoPro app. Full app compatibility with the HERO3 will be available for White and Silver Editions on November 12, 2012, and for Black Edition on December 14, 2012." |

Re: Hero 2 LCD on Hero 3
Thanks Mike. I did the software update and nothing related to the app is working right now. At least they are giving an exact date.

Re: Hero 2 LCD on Hero 3
Can anybody comment more on the audio quality? How clean is the signal when the AGC has cranked up the background? Would a good external mic help solve the problem?
