GoPro slips out of case while skydiving, drops 12,500ft, SURVIVES!
With almost a million views, I just wonder why it hasn't made it to DVinfo yet. |

Probably because the title says it all and the video itself is not really worth taking the time to watch -- unless you want to see the worst case of CMOS "jello" ever because the camera was spinning wildly the whole time it fell.

By watching the video, you can tell that when he scraped his head on the ceiling upon exit, it disengaged the latch.
The ending is kinda cool. |

Makes me wonder if this is an 11th hour desperate move by GoPro to make sure people don't forget them after Sony's camera comes on the scene. I've been getting their Video of the Week...just started showing up out of the blue. Why?

The new Sony will have them a bit worried, but GoPro is so high profile these days its unlikely they will be forgotten so long as they keep up the pace (they have a very high internet presence on Facebook, vimeo etc - so sending out those videos would be part of a broader marketing strategy, not a an 11th hour act of desperation).
GoPro has almost become a generic term these days for any extreme video or POV shot.
