GoPro Cam & Vegas?
Hi,
I am interested in the new GoPro HD Camera. I use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 and DVDA for all my video editing. I would like to know if anyone has ever uploaded from the GoPro's SD card into Vegas? If you have, I'm sure you did so from their standard defination camera due to the new HD being released this month. If you have, could you please advise me how to go about it? If not, do you have any suggestions how to place it on mini-dv for downloading into Vegas? Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ray |

We used a GoPro cam for a white water rafting trip. Except for a couple of minor glitches it worked pretty well. The picture quality was amazingly good but it did not handle fast motion (ie rapid panning) very well. Also the audio is less than stellar. Just take the card and put it in a card reader attached to your computer and transfer the file. Very fast. It was an MJPEG wrapped in an avi wrapper.

In addition it appears that the HD version gives you MPEG4 -H264. Have not tried that so can't comment on it.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I haven't purchased one of these cameras yet due to not knowing if it will work with Sony Vegas. Have you tried it in Vegas? Thanks again, Ray |

Ray,
You just put the SD card in a card reader on your computer. Then drag the video file to a folder on your computer, then you can disconnect the card. Open Vegas, go to project media-import media and search for the file that you put on your computer and click on it. Vegas will bring it into the program. You might have problems if you don't have the right codec installed. I believe it comes as an MJPEG file. Then you just use it as normal.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for your help. I believe and understand what you're saying. I haven't ordered the camera yet, but when I do I'll try as you said. Hopefully, I'll have the right codec installed so I don't have any problems. Thanks again, your help is very much appreciated. Ray |
