Portable minidv or Hi8 capture decks?
What is affordable and available?
I need a small deck for capturing from a bullet cam. It doesn't need a screen, just av in and lanc and long life battery..anyone know a good source for decks? |

jetboat racing application
Excellent start!! Thanks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xcBVvP9Z4E Here is a clip from a dvd I am working on. I want to use the decks to capture from the roll bar camera so money is an issue as I sometimes have 6 onboards and can't afford to have them sink or get wet. |

some small camcorders have AV in so they may be suitable to use as recorders (and possibly quite a bit cheaper)- if you could pick up something like an old sony pd100- I'm pretty sure it has AV in, you can also record DVcam and preset timecodes with one of these

Unfortunately, the PD100 /a is still selling used for $900+. The digital/hi8 video walkman units for $250 or so. Might be better off with a camcorder as a deck.
