When I put a tape into the camera, it loads it as I expect it should.

When the camera is turned on in 'playback' mode, the screen is just plain black.
When the camera is turned on in 'record' mode, the Canon opening plays, then it asks for date and time, then it has a NO CARD warning along with IN CARD POSITION.

I don't have much background information on the problem, but according to my grandad, the camera just randomly started asking for a card one day so he stopped using it. All the original tapes used in the camera are still present, but none will playback in the camera (but will in another - although they are pixellated).
