Convert HDV 1080i50 to 25P? Best way?
Hey guys, what is the best way to convert HDV 1080i50 to 25P?
I'm on Windows and use Premiere Pro and would like to have both my Sony HDR3 footage and my Canon 550D footage matching as progressive 25fps. I've tried import the HDV footage into PremPro on a Progressive sequence but you can still see the interlaced lines/frames on the final export. Thanks |

Any ideas?
I try to edit with it how it is, but it always ends up showing interlace lines when ever there is fast movement. Importing the footage into a Progressive sequence and exporting as progressive doesn't convert it to progressive (well it does but as I said you see the interlaced lines on the footage). |

Right-click the clip and do Field Options > Always Deinterlace
Maybe that will do it? Thanks

Thanks Jeff, that seems to do the trick. Feel stupid now for missing that.

Re: Convert HDV 1080i50 to 25P? Best way?
I haven't used HDV for a few years now but it seems to do this no matter what you do to try and make it 25p, I think it is because of the way HDV works and when it does 25p it is not true 25p.
You could try MPEG streamclip to do the conversion but I seem to recall that no matter what I did I always seemed to have some interlacing problems with HDV. I use panasonic P2 now but try de-selecting the field dominance as that seemed to give the best compromise: Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows But if the de-interlacing is working then you must be OK with it.
