worst DV tape in hot conditions?

When I was shooting on the road in southeast Washington state (what i'd like to call "the Northwest's Nevada") using JVC regular grade tapes, I immediatly got a dropout when I started recording in the near 80-90 degree temperatures. Do other tapes suffer the same or is it just JVC regular grade tapes? anyone who shot DV (or HDV) in Las Vegas have anything to add?
