MPEG-2 dropouts on western stations at DVinfo.net

I need more info on the dropouts on eastern-western time tape and MPEG-2 dropouts. I've seen a lot of dropouts when I see The Amazing Race on CTV West, they use BETACAM SX. Anyone else seen any more dropouts on their western local station? (not limited to Canada)

Vancouver is MPEG-2 Dropout city!

I just saw several MPEG-2 Dropouts, one with a GOP of 1/8 of a second on CTV and several with a GOP of 1/4 of a second on Global BC, all on cloudy days! Is this because of the climate in Vancouver and the MPEG signals can't penetrate the dense clouds?
