copyright protection

Is there a software or hardware product out there that will put a copy protection on a tape or DVD?

Don't bother. Anything you can do will eventually be broken. Even the expensive copy protection mechanisms that Hollywood uses (and they should have the best, no?) have been broken. It's just a fact of life that you have to live with.
