High pitched noise from DSR-11

Starting two weeks ago when I went into FF or REW on my DSR-11 I heard a high pitched whine that was never there before. Everything seems to be ok with the deck, but the noise is unsettling to say the least. Anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it? Is something about to fail? Thanks.

How old is the device and how many hours are on it? Might be time
to get it cleaned and checked?
