mini dv tape

I wanted to know if I record stuff on one tape many times. Meaning that I record something on place of something else.. Will the picture loose its quality??? if yes after how many times is it visible?

Unlike old analog video recording technology, digital video is recorded like files on your computer; 0's and 1's. So there is no loss of quality from copy to copy. If the tape can retain the recording, the recording will be faithful.

The ideal number of times to reuse a miniDV tape is 0. If you know that you're going to need to exceed that figure, buy the top grade of tape within your chosen brand, such as Panasonic's MQ grade.

Do a Search on 'reuse' in this section to read much more on this subject. It's one of the top questions asked again and again and again...

I myself have never reused a tape. It's nice that you can re record on the minidv tapes without quality loss, like if you run out of tapes and you can record over useless video, but in general, it's great to keep all once used tapes as backups. That way you know you still have the original footage on tape (even if you upload to you computer) in case you need it. Plus it's not really a good idea to keep putting wear on the same actual tape, this leads to glitches, ect.
