JVC M-DV63PRO tapes
Been using these for a few months in my JVC GY-DV550 and Panasonic DVX100 - recently had quite a few drop outs on both machines.
Anyone else used these tapes and experienced any problems? After using JVC tape exclusively, should I maybe switch to Fuji? |

Switch to Fuji???
According to the media salesperson for the large local video house, Fuji makes JVC and Panasonic mini-DVs as well as their own brand.

Well, just had yet another disaster with drop outs on an important bit of tape - right in the middle. I checked the end of the tape at the shoot and no problem. I guess it was a bit of dirt that eventually cleaned itself away.
I even fast forwarded and rewound this batch of tapes beforehand in another deck to clear out any manufacturing debris and re-tension the tape. Very unhappy and I just don't trust the camera and tapes now (JVC DV550) - makes life very miserable :( I'm even considering switching to a new camera although I do like this one a lot. I guess I should just switch to a different brand of tape first and do a backup recording to a DV deck (DSR-25) on-site for a while just in case I get any tape-switching problems. Why can't DV be more reliable! |
