DVCAM Playback on A Mini DV Camcorder
Hi.
This is my first post on this forum, and it's been useful to me, so I'd like to say thanks to everyone for their time. I'm thinking of getting the DSR-11 and have pre-buyer's remorse, so I just did a test to see whether DVCAM-recorded tapes from the PD170 will play back in my Sony DCR-PC9. I'm thinking of using the PC9 as a playback deck. They seem to work, but my question here is, am I missing something? Is there the possibility that there's some subtle problem that may not manifest itself during a short test, but would cause me to want to jump out the window after capturing hours worth of footage? Thanks for any help.

I use a DSR25 here. No problem playing back a DVCAM tape. Previously, I was using a really cheap stuff - a SONY DV Walkman ... YES, it handles both miniDV and DVCAM recorded material without problems (Only playback). You can't record a DVCAM signal on that DV Walkman however. I am VERY SURE that the DSR11 will not have any problems playing DVCAM material as well - since "DVCAM" is owned by SONY.
