dupe a DV tape w/ FW and match timecode?
Hi. I need to backup some DV tapes. I am hoping to be able to use them for batch capturing when I res-up my project (FCP), so I'd like the timecode to match on the two tapes. Is there any way to do this with consumer equip? Either Sony DV cams or Panasonic AG-DV1000?
thanks, Aaron |

If you capture the clip and then export it to a blank tape you should
at least maintain the timecode.

I copy from DSR 11 to DSR 11 all the time. I believe PD 150 and 250 can also do this. Just set TC to external on your record machine. We set all cameras & recorders to DF. Makes perfect 1 to 1 identical copies via Firewire. I backup all tapes we shoot this way. Your work is too valuable to risk.

Consumer cameras don't have external TC controls. Pro decks and some prosumer camers do allow TC to be locked.
