Re: GY-HM700 pros cons - would you buy again?
That's good news Don
After the HMC82's that also use the LCD as the EVF I got spoilt with big EVF's too ..Even the AC-130's had this hi-res but tiny (I think 1/2" LCD in the tube) and my old eyes struggled to see it!! The EA-50 also has the nice big LCD as an EVF and hi res too as well. Now I was reading the Sony manual and they mention that for those that have failing eyesight the EA-50 tube can also have a 52mm closeup lens inserted near the eyepiece ... I was wondering if that might help on the 700...just an extra "magnifyer" in the EVF to assist us old guys a little bit more??? They don't mention what magnification closeup lens to get but it might be an option for you to make the tiny screen a wee bit bigger??? Enjoy your new toy! Chris |

Re: GY-HM700 pros cons - would you buy again?
Chris,
I looked but can' find anything that looks like it would work. I'm using my old iCuff and it does seem to help a bit plus I've got the lens set like a shuttle shot for critical focus. So far just playing around everything has been in focus so I guess it's just getting used to the smaller VF eyepiece again. I miss the big 'uns from the full sized cams I used to own but I love the form factor and the balance is just about where I want it to be. I did have to argue between me and me whether I would miss the newer AVCHD vs the MP4. I love the MP4, Vegas just eats it right up and I've already played with 4 tracks of video and while my machine chokes a bit on that, for my work it will be just fine. Pardon me my friend, but I hear my name being called by my new lover. I call her HM700! ;-)
