New 710 shoots 1080p ?

Hi there,

I'm sure the new 710 shoots 1080p, would that mean there could be a firmware update for the 700 to allow 1080p shooting on that???

Re: New 710 shoots 1080p ?

I'm not sure of the particular differences in sensors (if any) between the two cameras, but the HM700 already has 1080p shooting modes, which is what I primarily use -- so I don't understand what it is you're looking for from a firmware update.

The HM700 has 3 720P sensors, slightly offset, which are used to assemble a 1080p image. This is not nearly as good as having true 1080P sensors, but it does provide somewhat better resolution than 720P alone.

Looking at the HM710's specs, it seems that the 720P shooting modes of the HM700 have been omitted. This means that the 710 cannot shoot 60P, only 30P or 60I. 720-60P is useful for sports and also for creating slow motion effects, so it's disappointing that this feature is apparently gone from the new 710.

Sorry, meant to say 1080p50...

I shoot 1080i50 but would like 50p.

The new 710 doesn't shoot 50P or 60P, as far as I can tell. HM710 info isn't available yet on JVC's European site, and I find no other references to 50P. The US site does not show 60P. Happy to be proven wrong!
