TIP: Fixing Dead pixels on the JVC GY HM700

One more thing. Don't try to use the focus assist button on the top of the handle... That one will not work. You must use the one on the left side right above the "User 1" button...

I tried it..Duh... Works when the right buttons are pushed..

Had to use this today. Day 2 of shooting a feature documentary.

All fixed now!

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this Lou. When I noticed it, I knew EXACTLY where to go, and yes Chris..This should be sticky!

This has happened a couple of times with my camera and it seems to be triggered by heat. The first time we were shooting on a factory rooftop in Dallas in the summer and the second time, again on a hot summer day, I had the camera in the trunk of my car and the start of the shoot got delayed a couple of hours. It's pretty much impossible to see, either in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen, so I didn't notice it until I got back and started editing. The good news is, the videos were both web-videos and after compressing them it's pretty much unnoticeable, and thanks to the post on this thread, easily fixable. Ok guys I am in the advanced menu.

scrolled down to :

PIXEL COMPEN DET: next to that it flashes "CANCEL".

if I press set it goes out. If I hold it it continues to flash.

I have done both and the pixel is still there.

I am in 1280x720 60p (HQ).

I have a shoot in the AM 200 miles away leaving at 0530 est.

EDIT: I did not know that while the flashing "CANCEL" is flashing you have to toggle down or up to get it to say "EXECUTE". I figured that out and its gone and I am good.

Someone needs to update the procedure. even though I feel stupid...I wont be the last person to get to that point. Could be very frustrating if on a shoot with no time.

Does anyone know if this pixel fix method will work with the GY HM750 Camera? A dead pixel popped up on my camera yesterday.

Digging up the old thread again! I had what appeared to be a dead pixel or 2. Followed Lou Brunos script (he had a script for the old GY-DV5000 as well and it worked as well so I trust his scripts) and of course I forget to scroll and press EXECUTE. After sitting there for about 5 minutes I checked here again read the ENTIRE thread and of course felt like an idiot. Scrolled to EXECUTE, BAM! 2 minutes late bad pixel(s) gone! Thanks Lou!

Mike, it's a different procedure for the 750 and here's the thread with the relevant info.
Take note of who the poster with the cure was :)
