Final CUT X / HM100

Hi All

I have been using final cut Pro for a few years now, and now that FINAL CUT X
has some live time under its belt, I would like to give it a try.

Question though. When I researched the specs, I don't see the .MOV files are able to be imported ?
They are no problem of course playing on a MAC, and no problem with FINAL CUT PRO... but
I am not sure if this will be ok with the new version.

As I have a HM100 JVC, this is (obviously) very important to me.

If you have experience in this area, I would REALLY appreciate a reply.

Thanks!!

Andrew

Hi Andrew. If you can send me a small clip, I can test it out for you.

I've got the JVC hm100u and I import into fcpx with no difficulties. I can begin editing right away.

OK, thanks for your help. but I have isolated the issue and I know "what" now but not "WHY"

My dad also has this camera, so I took his SD card and imported the data into my computer. On my computer, I can import the files with no issues into Final cut pro, as well as iMOVIE.

On my dads new Imac, iMOVIE will not import the same files... they just appear Greyed out. Is this because I have some software patched that allow the .mov file to be imported ? and on this new Imac, Finalc ut pro was never installed ? and therefore unable to read the .mov files?

Maybe I need to download and pay for that MPEG2 licence i keep reading about ? or another licence ??

thanks for your help

Yes you can read more codecs with a machine which has Final Cut installed on it than one which doesn't. There may be a download or a way to update the other machine.
