BR-HD50 and RS-422 need help in FCP

Finally got everything working (almost).

This is a all with FCP 6 and BM Intensity Pro.

I've got deck control using Keyspan USB/serial adapter via RS-422 and picture but the device control TC is set to 29.97... So the darn thing digitizes 720p60 at 29.97!

When I go to edit the device control pre-sets in FCP's AV settings I can select Panasonic RS-422 or Sony RS-422 but there is no frame rate option of 59.94! Only the usual 29.97, 24, etc.

I'm banging my head against the wall here...

I understand your frustration. FCP always seems to read the TC from the BR-HD50U as 30fps, whether it is actually 24 or 60. I've tried all the different modes and can't get around this. It could be the deck, but I haven't been able to confirm if any other NLE can read the TC properly either.

The only consolation is that the :00 will always be the same, so you can actually change the TC of your clips after they are captured to a different time base. I've done this with 24P, but I'm not sure if this works with 60fps.

BTW, control TYPE 7 seems to work best for batch capturing with RS-422.

I guess I don't mind if everything is kept in house using the same exact equipment. Theoretically a complete rebuild should be repeatable.

BTW- changing the TC does appear to work for 60fps but I'm still experimenting.
