Deck is Evil - Help!
Hi All,
I am trying to get around the capturing-dropping video issue using Tim's method of capturing DVHSCap and then using MPEG Streamclip. My BR-HD50 deck was making weird noises when I turned it on and now it won't eject my mini-DV tape. I was going to try and use my camera to capture from since when I opened HDVxDV it didn't read the deck. I have the deck switched to "local" and have plugged and unplugged it a million times. Is there a manual eject? Am I overlooking something? Thanks, Sharon |

To control the deck remotely from HDVxDV or DVHSCap, you need to have the 1394 switch set to HDV and the REMOTE/LOCAL switch set to REMOTE.
In the REMOTE menu make sure REM SEL HDV/DV is set to ON. Personally, I also set LOCAL FUNCTION to ALL KEYS so that I don't ever have to switch out of REMOTE to use the buttons on the deck. As for your issue with not being able to eject, I don't know what the problem is. Have you tried cutting the power to deck and then turning it back on?

Definitely got the Remote - FireWire issue undercontrol. Somehow the deck needed the power plug AND firewire unplugged and then the deck turned on and now it seems to all be working.
Thanks, Sharon |
