Help with GY HD 251 and BlackMagic HD extreme! at DVinfo.net

Hello,
First of all I want to thank you all for your contribution to this great forum.
Unfortunately there is no JVC branch in my country so your advice is very precious for me.
My problem now is that I want to capture live via SDI into my Mac (quad 2,5) using the BlackMagic HD Extreme. Is it possible? I tried in FCP using a Blackmagic720p 25 Varicam setup, but nothing was displayed in the capture window. Can anyone explain a step by step procedure?
Reading other posts I understand that the AIC compresion render decent quality and doesn't require expensive HDD. Is it true?
Any advice is welcome.
