If you have HD SDI input capability then you can use Convergent Design's HD Connect LE hardware to cross-convert the HDV1 720p stream to a baseband 1080i HD SDI signal. It's all digital so you won't have the problem of D to A conversion that you'd get using the camera's HD component analogue outputs and the conversion is real-time, of course.

In addition to the HD-Connect LE, we'll have the HD-Connect MI out this week for $695. It does HDMI -> HD/SD->SDI out of the HD50 deck. You can easily setup the box to output 1080i or 720p.

I've used the HD-Connect LE to go firewire out of cam to HD-SDI upconvert in to deck before and it works flawlessly.
I had previously tried several different solutions and this by far was the best. I'm sure you could probably get a demo from a local retailer and do some test runs for yourself. |
