BR-HD50 only wants to record in LP mode
I'm trying to record into my BR-HD50. No matter what I do it switches the mode to LP even though this deck doesn't record in LP mode. I've put in 3 fresh tapes. I try to record, the speed changes to LP then it gives me a LP warning. When I try to play back the tapes I get nothing but a (LP!) warning.
This happens whether the input is a computer or HD100. Anybody have any Ideas? Help. Evan |

Go into the menus and execute the factory reset.
I'm not sure how this is even possible, but the best thing to do is to clear everything and see if it still does this.

DvCam, and mini dv. It plays everything fine. It only affects record. I even tried prerecording a bit of DVcam at regular speed on another deck, then putting it in the JVC but it just keeps switching to LP.

problem solved!!
Well I heard from Doug Mullin at JVC and he told me it was a little known problem from updating the firmware. So he explained to me how to get into the hidden menu and do a reset. I had already reset from the main menu with no effect, but the hidden reset worked. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Re: BR-HD50 only wants to record in LP mode
There is a very good reason why the service menu is hidden - once you get into it, you might just screw up everything.
I suggest you call tech support and they'll walk you through. It is never a good idea to post these button combinations on the internet... using them will cause more harm than good. |
