Jvc Dr Hd100 40gb

I really think after paying the price for the hd100 camera they could cut us a break on the 40gb or 80gb hard drives ($1121.00), it almost looks like you could do the same thing with a 3rd generation 40gb ipod ......anyone do any research???

JVC does not own the DR-HD100, it is created by a company called Focus Enhancements and they make various models for all cameras under 10,000 including the HVX, the XL-H1, DVX etc.

the FS-4HD Pro is exactly the same thing as the HD100 except that it doesn't turn on and off with power-up/down at the camera. Also, it doesn't read out remaining capacity in the camera viewfinder. The non-Pro models, ie the 40 Gb version, lacks the same thing.

I am using two FS-4 HD devices on my HD100 and love them....no more tape, and you can gang the two together for a single 80Gb drive.

Is the iPod HD speed fast enough to keep up with a stream of video?

Are the FS-4's fully compatible with the JVC HD100 in HDV mode now? - I shoot in 720P-25 mostly, going to final cut and edius, and I've tried searching this site but can't seem to find a definitive answer...

My FS-4HD's are completely compatible with my JVC HD110 and Vegas 7. Dunno about FCP.
480 60p is a variant of the DV codec. As such, fully recognizeable as an AVI file.

thanks, one more thing

is it possible to get slow motion out of the fs-4 like the HVX200 you can over crank to get really good slow-mo...we are doing a couple of movies with machineguns and are looking for that affect....i like the live blanks, more realistic

The HDV 50/60P in SD gets recorded to the Firestore in .m2t Only. It is then up to the editor to conform the frame rate.
