Lens sleeve replacement
I'm looking for a replacement for the stock lens sleeve that is considerable stiffer. I'm trying to build a home made matte box and don't want to connect directly to the lens. Any info would be appreciated. I already checked the local camera shop.

If I understand your question, you can accomplish what you want by adding a clear screw-on filter to the lens. (thread size 85mm with an 82mm glass or opening)
Century makes a ring with no glass in it for this same purpose, but the ring costs more than a skylight or clear filter. The Century wide-angle converters and/or adapters need the ring to make the lens stiff enough to hold the converter/adapter. |

Thanks Jack, but that scenario is what I'm trying to avoid. Looking for a lens sleeve to replace the current one and be much stiffer. Then use it as a base for a cheap fixed (but large) matte box. Of course in a pinch gaffers tape and heavy construction paper could work for a quick fix. I have some black wrap I could press into service too, but that cost money. -).
