AB Battery / Titan 70 don't power camera?
I have an AB Battery and Titan 70 charger and adapter plate for the HD110.
The camera goes on with the supplied battery and the DC line off the supplied charger. I have carefully attached the AB adapter plate (and removed and reattached). However, the camera is not going on when I attach the AB battery or supply AC to the Titan charger and attach the charger to the adapter plate. The battery charges fine on the Titan charger? Am I missing something? Or is the adapter plate defective? This is a brand new setup that came free with the HD100 promotion. I opened the original box, etc. Thanks for suggestions. |

Apparently this is a common problem with the AB battery and the JVC camera. I received the following email from Anton Bauer support:
There is a quick fix that seems to help. When you attach the bracket to the camera, you must really over tighten the 2 screws. This ensures that the contacts on the bracket make contact with the camera. Best Regards, [name deleted] Customer Support Group 14 Progress Drive Shelton. CT 06484 --------------------------------------- My problem is that I did the above, and the battery would power the camera intermittently. Therefore, I tightened the screws 1/4 turn more, and they stripped. I don't know if the screw or the hole (on the camera) stripped. I called AB support and they took my name and phone and said they would get back to me. So far nothing. Can anyone help with these questions. 1. Is this a problem for AB warranty/service or JVC warranty/service. 2. Is there another bracket with a better design that I can use on the camera that will take the AB Goldmount battery and Titan 70 charger, since the one I have seems not to work (I think the design is flawed as it doesn't lock onto the mount) 3. Do I need to send the camera in for repair of the screw holes. 4. Should this repair be done under the warranty? Camera, battery, plate, etc. are all brand new. 5. Is there a fix available if I pay for it to reinforce the screw mount for battery adapter plates on the HD110? Thank you for any suggestions or who I should call next. |

Model S-4120J You will have to go to www.swit-battery.com and look in "Battery Accessories."

I would not say that this is a common problem - I've seen it happen only about three times out of hundreds of cameras sold in my district. I would suggest that you call the JVC tech support line for guidance on getting this taken care. See the post for tech support at the top of the forum. Regards,

This looks like a good solution. I hate to pay the extra $250, though. I wanted the AB battery for the readout and because the new cameras have the AB mount built-on I believe. (Apparently the only dealer for Swit in the U.S. is Varizoom, according to the Swit website. I checked B&H but not Swit products.) Note: the Swit adapter doesn't seem to have the plate for attaching a hard drive or a wireless kit like the AB has. |

A slight update on the AB adapter.
I got ahold of AB again, and they are sending me more screws. Apparently the coating on the screws can cause them to clog, then strip. It is the screws that stripped, not the camera threads... and I would assume that the screws are made softer than the camera metal so the camera doesn't strip. I haven't received the screws yet, but the instructions are to screw in the screws and unscrew them first, to clean the coating off, then use the screws to attach the adapter. Hopefully this will allow me to tighten the screws enough for the adapter to make contact. I will post a resolution message when all is resolved. Nevertheless, the Swit adapter is very alluring. |
