Anton Bauer Battery Alternative?

Just picked up an HD100 with an Anton Bauer mount.
Anyone know of any resources for less expensive third party batteries?

I use SWIT. The S8080A 88wHr batteries last around 5 hours each, but only require 2-3 hours to charge. The charger can charge two simultaneously. $320 US retail each.

It looks like Varizoom is the sole U.S. distributor. http://www.varizoom.com/batteries_index.html#3stud

I just received my HD110 today with Swit batteries, I am new to this level of equipment - always used high end consumer kit before, I bought mine as a package. I cant comment on the life of the battery, but have noticed that the although my charger (2 channel sequential charger - SC-302S) only charges one at a time. Thats cos its a sequential charger, there may be other Swit chargers that do simultaneous charging.

I am heartend about the suggested life of 5 hours though :)

Good luck with your search :)

forget LithION because of all battery technologies, it has the LEAST number of recharge cycles for its rated lifetime. I went with NiMH with TWICE the number of recharge cycles and nearly the same capacity, not much heavier that LithION, I mean oz's not lbs difference. I also have a large NiCad ProPac. its 5lbs but balanaces the camera very nicely, although it does appear to of bent the AB bracket down a bit. 4+ hrs of runtime with either one with the LCD on, and weight in at 2.2lbs for the NiMH which I got from RathBone Energy. If you plan on using the camera several times a week every week, NiMH will last twice was long as LithION. Once you divide the Cost of the Battery by Number of Charge Cycles, NiMH is half the price of LithION, and without the charger problems, possible airflight restrictions, ect. I did wind up getting an expensive PAG charger, but it will charge anything you put on it, including some LithION batteries, and it doesn't care about if the AB circutry is in the battery or working - ie - it will work with dumb batteries from 3rd parties ( or AB non-digital pacs), or even custom paks.

My dealer told me today that Swit is now shipping battery adapters that "lock in" with a click before you tighten the screws... a definite improvement over AB's solution.

Somebody I know who reviews camera kit (reviewed a JVC GY HD100 and loved it so much he kept it!) advised me of the following batteries:

http://www.hawkwoods.com/

He very highly rates these over all others - as part of his review he dropped them out of a 5 storey high window...and they worked fine afterwards. The cells inside are stitched together and therefore far less susceptable to damage. They should also recharge many more times than the competition. Mine turned up today and so far so good! The double channel charger can also be used in you cars cig lighter.
