HD100 Tripod Plate?
I just bought an HD100 from eBay. I am wondering if I need the $280 (KA551U) tripod plate in order to attach the camera to a tripod. I would really rather not spend the money on the tripod plate if I don't absolutely need it.

I bought it and now realise I've wasted my money. I have a Manfrotto 503 tripod head, and the plate on it is more than adequate to support the HD100. It can be screw fixed to the base of the camera. It is quick release in 2 moves. The only benefit the JVC plate gives is quick release in one move. This plate is actually screw fixed to the plate that comes with your tripod head. So really all you are doing is adding a second plate. A v-mount is screw fixed to the base of the camera, which you then slide into the plate to lock the camera in position. It depends on the tripod head you are using. Regards Andrew |
