Not sure what this is.....help

I've seen some odd behavior in my jvc on a couple test shoots, and I'm not sure what it is I'm seeing.

I tried putting these frame grabs on my website, hopefully you can see them.

http://www.catzillaproductions.com/Badframes.htm

If you can see it, it looks like the bottom part of the frame is actually another frame. Except for Example 1, which has a big green splotch on the bottom. I believe the camera was panning in all 3 situations. Is this artifacting? dropped frames? I never actually saw this bevhavior with my old DVX, and I don't always see it with the JVC.

I'm sure the many Masters of DVInfo can recognize it in 2 seconds.... hopefully!

Hi Dennis,

Do you see these frames on the camera too? Or is it only after capturing?
Is this behavior constantly or happening on a few frames?
What capture tool and software do you use?

Hey Dennis, I have had some of the green stuff happen to me too, but not the other two examples. I also have a flash of red show up, filling the entire screen, and lasts about 9 frames. You seen this yet?

I haven't seen the red. And what I see seems discontinuous, just a frame, then it's good for a couple seconds, then it happens again.

What do you think the green flashes are? dropped frames? subliminal messages from other dimensions? both?

I'll look at the tape on the camera to see if it's on the tape itself.

On the tape shot outdoors, in a very bright environment, I don't see the green lines, I do see a little line, going from the right or left hand side, going about a quarter across the lcd screen. (watching on the camera of course).

Looking again, the green does last for a few frames, then is gone - in fact about 6 frames which is the GOP for this camera, yeah? Could I be getting an artifact at the beginning of the GOP, and the rest of the GOP gets a big green blur, 'coz I have a lot of green in the picture?

I'm going clean the heads to see if it helped.... a week before the outside stuff, I shot some stuff outside at night, with a good amount of panning and I didn't have this at all.

I use Adobe PP2.0 and hook a firewire right up to the camera. I use the JVC ProHD tapes. But now I'm wondering if I should plunk down the money for the JVC hard drive.
