Montoring the levels
I have the 101e , in the viewfinder the audio levels display yellow bars sometimes and red , now i know the red is too loud, but what is the yellow, i am finding it hard montoring the audio levels.
The little montior control beside the peaking control, should it be turned up or down, once i had it turned up and i thought the sound was fine until i heard it on the timeline-it was so low. so if anyone can advise me on the levels in the lcd viewer and the monitor control that would be great john |

You should have your sound levels between -20 and -12 db on your meter. Peaking at - 12 db gives you some headroom.
Look at the meter in the viewfinder and check where the coloured bars appear relative to those levels. Your camera is set at the broadcast standard - 20 db zero level tone, as against -12 db, so that may change levels where the level colours are appearing. You set the monitor out for comfortable hearing levels in your headphones, it doesn't effect the recording levels. |
