Focus Assist on ext. CRT?

Hi - dont own a hd100 yet, but will probably within the next 8 weeks...

Got a general question:

As far as I understood I can record in HDV and output a SD analog Signal to a CRT.

Is it possible to output the focus assist to the ext. Monitor as well?

IŽd like the idea of having a better Solution and screen size PLUS focus assistent in studio situations.

?

Sorry but no focus assist out of the analog connections.

This is something I really wish you could do for both technical and artistic reasons.

I had talked to one of the JVC guys about getting schematics to create a device that could get at least a composite signal out of the focus assist but it isn't possible to do it that way.

I really wish they could make that happen through a firmware upgrade.

Perhaps the LCD display in the VF is driven by a composite signal (I don't know). If it is maybe you could make a splitter for the viewfinder connector on the camera body. You'd have to find out what the pin-outs are for this VF connector. JVC sells the service manual for the camera for about $120. Maybe the information is in there. Anyone want to experiment?

Thats what I talked to the JVC engineer about.

It won't work with the existing connectors unfortunately as the signal going to both the viewfinder and LCD are specifically tailored to those devices and wouldn't be capable of driving anything else.
