i'll miss dvxuser. i liked hanging out in the back room. i always thought of the jvc room as "the ghetto" which was cool . gave us a kind of street cred. okay, let's get this place rocking!

For those ex-DVXuser people discovering dvinfo for the first time, I'd like to stress that there have always been a few subtle differences between the two boards that you should be aware of. I know that Chris' mandate is that dvinfo.net is a searchable library of useful facts pertaining to gear and techniques. It is important to us to filter out FUD and contribute as much helpful information as possible to owners/operators (current or potential) of any manufacturer's gear. If you are looking for a "clubhouse" or "chatroom" vibe, you won't really find it here - and that's what I like most about dvinfo. Around these parts we don't use aliases or avatars - we are "real people" with "real info" (as the fine print states at the bottom of every page.) Also, we don't have inline IMG tags turned on. Here's some useful links if you are thinking of starting a thread that doesn't wholly relate to the HD100: If you need to crew up for a shoot, please visit our "helping hands" forum. If you are having post issues with Final Cut Pro, check out "Final Cut Pro for HDV" or "Lumière HD for Final Cut Pro." For PC post issues check out Vegas HDV Forum, Cineform Software Forum, or HD/HDV Editing Solutions" for everything else. Sound questions can be directed to "Now Hear This." If you are interested in using 35mm lenses, then go to the P+S Technik Mini35 forum or for info on homebuilt versions the Alternative Imaging Methods forum. You can show off your finished work in DV for the Masses (please respect copyright.) Talk about everything else in "TOTEM: Totally Off Topic, Everything Media"

Just to be clear.. this has nothing to do with Panasonic.. its not a marketing trick. And Panasonic doesnt pay for DVXuser.com. Thats why Red is still there, because I have faith in the camera... just like I have faith in the HVX and the DVX.
There is only one person that decides what cameras are and arn't on DVXuser.com, and thats me. Like alot of people in this thread mentioned how DVinfo isn't a clubhouse, thats what DVXuser used to be and thats what i want it to be once again. A tight community with a common tool. |

Yeah, I really don't appreciate the conspiracy theories being thrown around... I'm already removing some of them. Can we keep this topic focused on the J. Ames NAB party please. How Jarred runs his site is his own business and I can certainly relate to that.

I respect Jarred's decision. I believe it's easy to understand why he has decided to stay focused on Panasonic; afterall, it is DVXUSER.
We all just thought it was odd the switch was thrown without any notice. At the same time, I'm glad we have found a common place here at dvinfo. Dvinfo has always been about an open community. I like to keep current with new technology regardless whose badge is pinned on it. |

Thanks Jared
Yes, hats off to you anyway Jared, I didn't at all have hard feelings, just a little surprise, thanks for taking the time to explain you position, and yes it makes sense, as the title "DVXUser" seemed to not give enough weight to the many subforums you were hosting. Heck, I'll still swing by and visit, especially after something tantalizing at NAB may get me all fired up with Panasonic again. And to everyone at DVInfo, it's great to be a part of a great community here as well, only wish I didn't live on the other side of the planet, or I'd definitely have a beer with you at NAB 2006. My Church finally gets two HD101's this week and another the week following, mainly live stuff, but we do record, and then stream the material over the internet. We infact, as far as I'm aware, have the first completely cyber church in the world, as in, it's not a website for a church, but a church which only exists in cyberspace, basically for those who are too remote or sick to attend a service.
And no I'm not preaching guys, don't be afraid. I'm a cameraman and visionswitcher/director, so I'm here to get into the tech and method of the art. I'm buying my own HD101 at the end of the year to do documentary, event videography, and short film work. So to all you lucky guys'n'gals over there, enjoy NAB, I guess I'll just hunt around and download/stream as much footage I can : ) Last edited by Adam Letch; April 17th, 2006 at 04:39 AM. |

Is it dead or hiding?
ADMIN NOTE: This was a new thread that I instead merged into this one. Tim
the HD100 forum appears not to have been closed but moved, to "off topics". what's the situation? edit: thread title was supposed to say "Is it dead or hiding"? Last edited by Brian Luce; April 17th, 2006 at 05:49 AM. |

Huh? Looks like it's in the "affordable high definition acquisition" group where it's always been... http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?f=61
