True Uncompressed HD from GY-HD100
I am new to the whole realm of HD - I am currently shooting with an F900 at work, but I have a few projects of my own that I need a low cost HD solution for. I was considering getting the GY-HD100, but I recently was editing some HDV footage for a client, which require green screen. It wasn't horrible, but the edges resembled the same thing I would see when keying DV footage.
My question is this: Since the GY-HD100 and the F900 both capture the actual image at 1920 by 1080 (yes i know the hd100 isn't truely that since it's anamorphic) - is there any way to extract the uncompressed data from the camera and record to another capture device - say an HD deck or straight to a hard drive in true uncompressed 4:2:2? i really dont mind the 150MB/s storeage requirements. The image quality of the HDV cameras I have worked with is GREAT, but its the microscopic artifacts that the compression ads that can really screw me up! |

Hi Daniel,
First I'd like to bring to light that the HD-100 is not 1920x1080, it is 1280x720P. Second, to answer your question about 422, yes their is 1280x720p @ 60fps 422 out of the component jacks on the camera. Third, greenscreen work with the HD-100's HDV has been really good (not as good as 422 but still very good). What keyer are you planning on using? I invite you to This thread to download a greenscreen m2t and try with your keyer. good luck... |
