Yes, it happened to me with the first tape as well. Close it, try to play a few seconds (or forward the tape), stop and try again. It worked for me, I hope it will do it for you! Good luck.

Same problem, but I need to get it fixed. Sometimes it is no problems, somtimes it is a problem 10 times ion a row. (tried everything: shut down & firing up again, playing in between tries, ...)

i got it out. it finally opened up on the last try before i went to bed. this is what happened. open the tape door, make sure it's empty. now slowly close the door until you hear a click. if you look on the right side of the door you'll see what looks to be a kind of arm with a hook at the end. once the door is pushed in so far, a little pin drops down on that arm and after that pin drops, the door won't open until either the camera raises the pin like it's suppose to or you use something small like a toothpick to pull the pin up far enough so the door will open. so, now i know how to open it if it gets stuck again.

Don't bother finding another hack for the camera's woes. Get it fixed and make it jvc's problem. We have been working around the cameras issues much to much.
