Best Alternative?

Regarding my problems getting my HDV footage to work properly in FCP (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=57357),
Am thinking of just having HDV footage converted to DV.

My final output will be for web and DVD.

Can anyone chime in on how much of a loss of quality I will end up with or will it be negligible in the formats I will be outputting to?

Thanks,
Dan
