FCP 720/25P JVC BR50 Workaround
Here is a solution if you need to edit footage from the JVC Camera, but you will need the the DeckBR50. If you want Batch Capture and need to edit footage shot with 720P/25.
I think this would also work with a PC based system will try out in a few days. Besides the deck you need a capture card which will accept Component HD, the two I know are Kona LH and Decklink multibridge. You could aslo use a HD Component to HDSDI converter. Set the BR50 Deck to output 1080i from the menu, launch FCP in easy setup, select the Blackmagic or Kona 1080i DVCpro setting, start capture window and if your connections are done as mentioned above you should have picture in the capture window, now you are capturing in 1080 using a better codec DVCPRO and have batch capture and recapture capability, using the RSS422 controller on the JVC deck. Edit with all realtime features possible in FCP and your system using an excellent DVCPRO codec at 14-15mb and after the project is over you have a master in the highest format and downconvert to whatever. We have shot both JVC and Panasonic Varicam footage for the same project and I have intercut footage from both formats using the above solution. So this is a excellent workaround that one has found after a lot of trial and error. We capture DVCpro HD footage via HDSDI excactlly the same way as mentioned above from the DVCpro Studio Deck. You can edit NOW with this setup when FCP starts supporting all the other 720 formats including HDV, you can easily recapture all your footage using the new available format since you will have your project saved with all batch capture info, just thrash your media as we do. NOW DO WE KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF BATCH CAPTURE. START WORKING AND FINISHING WORK SHOT WITH YOUR CAMERA. NEED TO CHECK THIS ON A PC BUT I AM SURE THIS WOULD WORK TOO. ENJOY |
