Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

Hello,
I'm wondering if any one has ever been able to get TC/ date output/ burn for the JVC - 200 / 250/100 series or for
thre HM-700?
Need this to do legal work and I've gor to believe there is a way to it.
Thanks!
Tim

Is this something you have recorded already and need to deliver on, or are considering recording?

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

I just checked the owner's manual for the GY-HM200 and yes you can do this (burn-in during recording).

The feature is called Time Stamp and is described on page 117 near the bottom.

The HM200 owner's manual is available online at JVC Pro Software/Firmware Downloads

I didn't check the other camera models, but JVC seems to be pretty consistent with feature sets, so I would imagine that Time Stamp is available on most all of them. Hope this helps,

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

Well, I hope I haven't spoken too soon. I just looked through the GY-HM700 manual and couldn't find it.

That manual is located at http://pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/CA...T0904-001B.pdf

Best I can come up with are some output options on page 86, but it would require an external recorder.

You have Analog Out Char. and SDI Out Char. for that.

Danged if I can find any option for burn-in directly to on-board media, though. But maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

Hello Chris,
I'm sorry, but I may have conflated the cams I was asking about which has led to some confusion

Looking for Timecode/Date output burn for GY-200, 250.....(old cams with Mini-dv hooks up to Focus Enhancements DR-HD re corder)

Or, my "New" cam...., HM-700

Not HM-250 (which you kindly pointed out page 117 for the HM- 250 manual.)
Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

Andrew, It is for legal work hoping to get but the law firms need time/date burned in (for obvious reasons) and I'm puzzled that these great JVC cams apparantly dont have this output feature.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi Tim,

Yes the model nomenclature can get confusing at times.

I believe you're referring to the GY-HD200 and GY-HD250.

I had confused them for the GY-HM200, which is a different animal.

I'll see what I can find out about the GY-HD200 & 250.

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

I've sat and gone through all the menus on my 750, and while I can display date/time/timecode I cannot find any setting that burns it into the file. I can, of course, add this in my editor - but I assume for legal reasons this is unacceptable - although as it matches the timecode in the file does this matter?

I wonder that as timecode is always recorded, burning into the video file might on a pro camera be considered a bit pointless?

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

Likewise, I just went through the owner's manual for the GY-HD250, which is located online at http://pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/HD...-HD250inst.pdf

There's an extensive section regarding TC / UB capabilities but Time Stamp / burn-in doesn't seem to be one of them (unless I've missed something).

Like the HM700, it has Analog Out Char. and SDI Out Char. so perhaps it can be done with an external recorder.

However, on page 95 under the Time / Date menu, there's this:

--------------------------------------------------------

In the Camera mode, the date and time are displayed in accordance with the following settings.
The date and time recorded on a tape are displayed in accordance with the following settings:

BARS+CAM : Date and time are always displayed.
BARS : Date and time are displayed when the color bars are output.
CAM : Date and time are displayed when the camera images are output.
When the DISPLAY item is set to OFF, “- - -” is indicated and this item cannot be selected.

--------------------------------------------------------

Which to me sounds kind of promising but someone with the camera would have to try it and find out (and report here please).

But I'm thinking that these options just apply in VTR mode and not Camera mode.

Hi Tim,

If you have already recorded to a format that includes TC, it is possible to apply this in post and then export out from there. On the other hand, they may be pedantic about the recordings (with BITC) being done in such a way that there can't be a non-BITC version in existence or any possibility of fudgery.

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

The "Time Stamp" feature in JVC Professional camcorders became available from the GY-HM600 series and later. The GY-HD200, 250 and GY-HM700 do not have the Time Stamp feature.

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

Dear Graig,
thanks so much!
Can you tell me of any JVC consumer cams have the feature?
Is there a way to get a list of the JVC cams that have it?

I;m a Jvc guy and ilove my two HM-700's for ENG/EFP work but i'm slowing down a bit and would love to pick i[up some Legal work like depositions, but the law firms are all adamant that you have
TC/date burn-in. I have all the other gear but need a cam that has it.
Thanks!!

The JVC GY-HM180 camcorder is a current model, the least expensive of their professional 4KCAM line-up, and it has Time Stamp. It's available from B&H for less than $1300: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...2855/KBID/3801

More info about the HM180 at my JVC 4KCAM / ProHD Buyer's Guide at https://www.dvinfo.net/article/buyer...ers.html#hm250
