dead HD100U
today my 4 week old camcorder failed to power up. Not on batts, not on ac.
Yesterday, it was working fine. Took off the batts to charge, put it in it's case and went to bed. This morning, dead. I tried to get customer service on the phone and got no where except frustrated. So, I dashed of an email to JVC, not expecting to hear back for a few days. I got a phone call in less than 20 minutes! Dwayne was extremely nice and helpful, recognized the problem at once. (the editor put a battery on the camera to take a tape out, and must have jiggled it just offset enough to blow a fuse. It's happened enough that JVC is aware of a problem). Dwayne then got me set up with an RMA to send the camera back to NJ for service. He also mentioned that because the camera is so new, it can only be serviced in NJ and there are very limited spare parts on hand. We also talked about some negatives, like more lens choices and battery life, which he said JVC is addressing with 2 more lens to become available soon, as well as a larger capacity battery. So, I'm really bummed that the camera is so touchy about battery mounting and the customer can't replace a fuse - I lost 2 days of shooting that can't be replaced... but, really pleased with JVC's customer service response! |
