I think you'll find that the Panasonic tape Criag Yanagi mentioned, the Panasonic AY-HDVM63MQ, has the same specs as the JVC tapes.

- though there still seems to be good stock of the JVC tapes around at the moment. I just bought some from Proactive in Hemel Hempsted, and Creative video are listing them as in stock, too.

I've only ever used the JVC tapes, and accept that at some point soon I'll need to switch. I think there's a consensus on these boards that switching tapes isn't a huge problem so long as it's done in conjunction with head cleaners and so on - it's just not a good idea to switch between different types too often.
