So does this thing have the 6 frame dropouts, like the Sony has the 15 frame dropouts? Is it supported by FCP?

1. No, its 24p mode is actual 24p, with no redundant frames recorded (like the DVX100 and Varicam) and no frame dropouts.
2. Not yet, unless you count transcoding to a currently supported FCP timeline codec (such as 8 or 10 bit uncompressed HD, or DVCProHD 720p24) first.

It won't have *any* dropouts if you're recording directly to the optional onboard hard disk recorder.

Chris beat me to it, that's exactly what I was thinking.
This thing is sounding better everyday.

There are NO 6 frame DOs. Ugly rumor I may have started. :)

The 6 GOP frames are stored on 60 tracks. All the GOPS are in tiny blocks scatter through the 60 tracks.

A DO takes out a few blocks which error correction should fix.

A really big DO takes out some macroblocks, but can never take out a whole FRAME.

DV stores 6 frames over 60 tracks too.

The folks over at cineform stated they anticipate no problems supporting it when it comes out. It's HDV, but at 24p. Good news for Vegas folks.

Schweet. Was there an indication how much the optional hard disk recorder was going to cost, and the storage size?

What? On-board hard drive? Do you mean on-board the cam itself, or as a Firestore type device?

Frederic, it's going to be an external add-on recorder, most likely based on the FireStore FS-3.
