JVC, Apple & Sony Playstation 3
Does anyone know whether or not the Sony Playstation can playback digitized JVC (HDV1) .mov files?
I would love to be able to tell my clients they can do this so I can just hand over a USB drive. Do tell! |

I use my PS3 as my primary playback device for dailies now. It plays m2t files, any frame rate, copied directly from the DR-HD100.

i've played the mt2 files as well on a ps3.
but I'm certain it won't playback the HDV .mov files since ps3 doesn't recognize quicktime files. |

Sorry Justin.
I didn't notice you asked specifically about mov. Unfortunately PS3 doesn't understand the quicktime wrapper. I now make it the standard workflow to digitize on the DR-HD100 as m2t and then use Clipwrap if going to FCP. BTW, the PS3 can play H264 (AVCHD or mp4), Windows Media 9 (VC-1) and as far as I know DivX HD. I can't get it to play raw XDCAM EX files though. Sony does software updates all the time but I can't find a comprehensive list of what codecs it can now play back.
