Windows and BR-HD50

I've had the deck for a couple of years and all of a sudden Windows and Edius will not recognize the deck in HDV mode, only in DV. Does anybody else have this problem.? Did a Windows auto update come and change something?

I reset factory defaults on the deck. No luck. Any help appreciated.

I just had this problem with avid/windows and straight dv (it will still recognise hdv). Tried new cables, then tried three different devices (hd50 and both jvc cams) and got the same result. Thought I might be frying firewire connections- but all still ok with another computer.
One of life's little mysteries to me- and something to think about when I get back to work!
