Camera for B roll and discreet filming
I'm looking at small cameras, ideally ones with IR ability as well as HD (I think that puts me in Sony, but am not sure) to match the 720p60 of our JVC GY HD-200u. Does anyone have any recommendations? I know this isn't the best place to ask for info on this, but don't know where else to ask.
I'm looking at the Canon HV30 and the Sony HDR-HC7, either would work, but they don't seem to offer 720p60. Thank you, as always, for any help you can give me, Jason |

Maybe the Nikon D90.
It doesn't have IR but can do 3200 or 6400ASA with less noise than you'd expect. Combine that with a fast lens and you will be amazed at what you can get with even just candle light. It definitely is discrete (in disguise as a regular D-SLR) and will shoot 720p24 in 5 minute bursts. Unfortunately no 720p60. Audio is from a built-in microphone but there wouldn't be any way to use a wireless lav with it. Maybe the mystery camcorder just spotted at JVC's IBC booth is what you are looking for.
