Benefits of HDV 60p mode?

Is it wishful thinking to ask if shooting HDV 60p would equate to shooting film at 60fps or (48fps)? Meaning, when I put it on the timeline at 24p am I going to get super smooth slow-mo? Just curious if anyone has testing this.
