If I use the HDMI output of the BR-HD50U to go to a edit system will it carry timecode info like Firewire?

i thought HDMI was just a video source, but if you have time code displayed on the deck, shouldnt that show up on the monitor (it wouldnt be passing time code, just the video signal from the deck, which happens to have timecode on it)? I could be way off, but thats my .02

I guess what I meant was, like with Firewire when you capture you get scene detection. Will it break up the clips as you capture like Firewire?

No, HDMI cable does not carry any time-code information.
