That's an OLD review!

Here's the deal.

The HD100 will output ANALOG 720p60 out of the component outs only while the camera is shooting in 720p30 mode. You cannot record 720p60 to HDV on the 100 series cameras. Only the 200 series cameras are capable of 720p60 encoding to HDV.
However, if you have the means you can record the live analog 720p60 into a component capture card on a computer or a similar component capable recording device.

The HD100 can record 60p in 480p HDV mode to tape. I have used this before and uprezzed just the slowmotion shots and it intercuts just fine (assuming the final product is a DVD.)

I second Tim's method, Also Stephen Noe post the same workflow.
Im using the hd100 and I just finished a corporate spot.
Most shots were in 720 24P in ome scenes were slowmotion is not extremely needed i shot 30P, the really slow scenes I shot in 480 60P. Uprezzed it on the timeline and they intercut just fine. This was especially useful when shooting birds and bees in flight.

Any component capture card recomended?

Last question can I record it at 720 30p and then play back tape to capture the 720 60p to component or does it have to be actually recording to do so?

Thx !

no, it will work only with direct recording. the route to the tape either drop a frame or merge two frame in one, so there is no way to get the extra frame back.
