Anyone having trouble capturing 24p from their HD100/110?

I've got some 24p footage from my JVC HD100 and I cannot capture it successfully. If I use the HDV preset, FCP wants to stop after each cut, re-cue the footage, and capture just that one shot before stopping again to re-cue for the next shot. If I use the AIC, all the footage I capture plays back at like 3x speed, but with normal audio!

I'm using FCP 5.1.4 and capturing via firewire from the camera. Will Premiere do a better job?

Since your using FCP, you may need this:

Also, make sure your camera has the "A" upgrade.

I've also had problems importing footage from my HD 100 into FCP 5.1.4. I'd really appreciate any suggestions or simple instructions for importing and editing my footage.

Modify a device capture preset and change the PRE/POST Roll from 5sec/3sec (by default) to 1 sec. each, as this is the minimum it will let you. This single step solved all of our problems here.

Be mindful of this on set too. Let it roll for a few seconds before and after each take if you'll be ingesting 24p through tape.

If you have problem shots that are still ruined by this, then try changing your capture preset to AIC and conform that shot to 23.98 in cinema tools. The video will look great, but it won't be synced with the audio.

Hope this helps.
