replace jvc hd200 lens
hello
i would like to replace my jvc hd200 fujinon lens with a 20mm prime one to minimize size for working with mini35 adapter (redrock m2). Can i buy a nikon>jvc mount adapter and put a nikon 20mm lens on it ? |

I don't think that will work... the field of view from a 20mm lens when mounted on a 1/3rd-inch camera head such as the HD200 will be fairly telephoto, I don't think you'll be able to fill the frame with a 35mm adapter or focus properly... just my best guess though. If I'm reading you right, you're proposing this:
35mm lens > Redrock M2 > 35mm prime lens > Nikon adapter > HD200 camera |

yes it is.
With the fujinon lens it's working like this: 35mm lens > Redrock M2 > Fujinon lens at 20mm > HD200 camera setting the fujinon at 20mm equals a telephoto at 140mm in a 24x36 field of view (x7). this is why i would replace it by a lens with the same focal lenght. |

yes except -
a 20mm prime will be f2.8 or maybe for big bucks, 2.0. your stock lens is 1.4ish and I think you'll find that the stock lens will be sharper than the 35mm prime by a margin. also a a film lens isn't designed to focus the RGB colors thru the optical block as a video lens is. if you can find a HD grade video lens, you might have something, but I don't think its worth the time and effort for very little be gained, and I think in this case lost. |
